Pete Bender is a veteran caddie for 41 years, but without a win at Pebble

For 30 years, carrying golf bags for pros on the PGA Tour was Pete Bender's full time job. Now in his 60's, the former Santa Cruz resident has cut his schedule to part time, but has worked 41 consecutive Pebble Beach Pro-Ams. This week, Rocco Mediate is his pro, but has history with Hale Irwin, Greg Norman, Ian Baker Finch and many others over the years. He's seen how the tournament has changed from the "Crosby days" and admits it's not quite the fun it used to be...but it's what he does. As a professional caddie Bender knows the nuances of what it takes to win, but so far, has never visited the winners circle with his pro at Pebble Beach. He has however won a "major" with Greg Norman, and numerous other tour stops over the years, but Pebble Beach is his home track and time is running out to capture that elusive victory here.
