Charlie Wi pushed his lead to 3, halfway through AT&T. Tiger, Vijay, and Dustin Johnson lurking

Cal Bear grad Charlie Wi broke free from a 3-way tie when the round began, firing a 3 under 69 at Pebble Beach while Dustin Johnson shot level par at Spyglass Hill. Other "major" winners like Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington moved into contention, so Wi, winless on the PGA tour through 7 years will be feeling the heat on Saturday. A steady drizzle developed toward the end of the day, but aside from many golfers not carrying umbrella's the rain was not a factor. Today's best round was turned in by Harrington, a 6 under 66 at Pebble which vaulted him into a tie for third, with 4 other pros, one shot behind Johnson who has won here twice. Mickelson at minus 7 is 5 strokes back, one ahead of Tiger Woods. As for celebrity amateurs trying to make the cut which comes following tomorrow's round, New England Patriot coach Bill Belichick, and former 49er offensive lineman Harris Barton are tied for 7th. Ray Romano is tied for 11th, and 49er head coach Jim Harbaugh is one shot off the cutline.
