Schwab Cup contenders don't make a dent in Tom Lehman's lead.
Tom Lehman could finish dead last this week at TPC Harding and still capture the Schwab Cup Championship. Today's Champions Tour stop finale in San Francisco, did not produce a serious challenge from the only players who could catch him in the points race. Mark Calcavecchia, Peter Senior and John Cook could not better par, while Lehman shot a 1-under 70. Presidents Cup Captain Fred Couples and his assistant Jay Haas lead 1st day action shooting 68's. Couples, Hass and the 12 American PGA players selected, face the International squad in Australia in a couple weeks. Haas' son Bill recently captured the FED-X Cup and a $10,000,000 bonus and earned a selection to the U.S. team from Couples. Tiger Woods ranked 50th in the World rounds out the squad.
