Mark Calcavecchia needed to tie for second for the Schwab Cup Title. He did...but he didn't
Needing to finish tied for second this week at TPC Harding, Calcavecchia battled into second place. Problem is, a trio of other players joined him at 6 underpar, and the arithmetic just didn't work out for Mark. Loren Roberts, Michael Allen, and Jay Haas also tied for second behind Champions Tour winner Jay Don Blake, but the extra runnerup split allowed Tom Lehman to maintain the slimmest margin possible to nip Calcavecchia in the final money winning race, and thus capture the seasonlong Schwab Cup Championship and a one million dollar bonus.
