Most of the usual pros and many returning celebrities will be part of a reduced field in February for the AT@T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. 156 teams will deal with the challenges and spectacle of Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and a return of an early course from the time when the tournament was simply "The Crosby" ..Monterey Peninsula Country Club also within Del Monte Forest. MPCC"s Shore Course and the Club's members have secured a spot in the tournament at the expense of Poppy Hills. Several pros including Tiger have complained of bumpy greens and such at Poppy, but the Event is forever changing....and losing a sense of the past in the process. Humorist and regional sports broadcaster Bob Murphy who was part of "The Crosby" Broadcast team over 30 years ago, has been the MC for the on course shootout events and this press conference was in the audience rather than his traditional spot orchestrating the press proceedings with a few laughs and recollections..this media gathering was stale and scripted. Tournament Director Steve Worthy reads a partial list of the pros and celebs in the field in the video. Murphy sits in the audience unable to spice up the proceedings. The corporate nature, of a once grand and special tournament, allows the event to be a CBS spectacular telecast of the PGA Tour. If it were to be staged this week, the AT@T would be washed away. Today's conditions are unplayable at Spyglass, and the forecast is not good
